The "Hunde SOS Oberberg e.V." association tirelessly works to help abused and distressed dogs. On their property in North Rhine-Westphalia, Thomas and his team run a shelter caring for about 80 dogs. Many of these animals come from confiscated or cruel living conditions and require intensive care and rehabilitation. In addition to the shelter, the association also operates a sanctuary for older dogs and a dog school to give severely traumatized dogs a new chance at life. Despite their immense dedication, the organization faces significant financial challenges. Monthly costs for food, veterinary treatments, and housing amount to approximately 3,500 to 4,000 euros, making it an ongoing struggle to provide for the dogs.
