The association "S.O.S. Hoffnung für Pfötchen e.V." tirelessly fights for the survival of many stray dogs in Niš, Serbia. The street dogs suffer from hunger, disease, and mistreatment, and the association works with animal rescuer Dragana and four other foster homes to save as many dogs as possible. They are already caring for over 140 dogs in the shelter, but the overpopulation and lack of neutering programs exacerbate the situation. The dogs that make it to the shelter are often sick or severely traumatized, urgently needing food and medical care. The association receives little government support, and despite their intense efforts, food is often insufficient to meet the needs of all the animals. 😔
