The association "Sprechende Hundeaugen" fights tirelessly against the terrible conditions in Romania's kill shelters. Maria, the dedicated leader of the association, rescues dogs living under the worst conditions. Many of the rescued animals are sick, traumatized, or have been neglected in overcrowded shelters. Without Maria's efforts, many of these dogs would have no chance at a better life. She manages 14 foster homes, collectively caring for around 400 dogs, including puppies, former street dogs, and severely injured animals. Despite the immense challenges, there is little state support. Food and medical care are largely funded by donations, and the costs continue to rise. Seeking help, the association turned to the community for support.
