The "Anthemoundas Shelter" in northern Greece battles daily against the intense heat and challenging conditions. Animal rescuers Eirini, Maria, and Elpida care for 140 dogs in the shelter, as well as 70 strays on the streets. They face the immense challenge of providing for the dogs despite empty food supplies and a lack of water. Water has to be delivered in expensive tanks, which places a huge financial strain on the shelter. The ongoing heat and rising emergencies, such as injured dogs and puppies suffering from heatstroke, make their task nearly impossible. The costs for water, food, and veterinary treatments, particularly for illnesses like leishmaniasis, are overwhelming. 😕
